Reality One: The Noble Hero’s Rise to Fame
Chapter Four: Outline For The Final Essay
Warning: Themes of Gore are present throughout the chapter.
We slowly make our way out of the cave fighting monsters that reveal themselves along the way. The sword I acquired made quick work of the slimes, skeletons, and husks we fought. It seemed to almost increase my magic capabilities, making my magic even more intense than it already was. The ground I raised was stronger, the fire I threw was more intense, the air I displaced was faster. This sword not only was super strong on its own but powered me up as well.
We slowly approached the exit of the cave and started to head back to Tess’ house. Out of nowhere, however, we were stopped by a random traveler who jumped out of the trees. A skinny and disheveled rat, a little bit taller than me and also bearing a sword of his own.
“”’I see you plan to take down the almighty god of this realm and the one I love dearly.””’ said the mysterious person.
‘...You mean that demon that beat me to shreds? Quite the opponent indeed.’ I snark back at him. ‘Who are you and why did you call him a god?’
“”’Quint. I admire his dedication to ending the ones making this land a shithole, destroying every single person one by one by one. The smell of the trail of blood he left behind is simply invigorating and intimidating, I can’t help but be a believer of his cause.””’
“He’s being possessed by a gauntlet that’s making him kill. We never met the host before he was possessed, but something tells me that he would not have the same philosophy.”
“”’Oh, quite the contrary I bet! Why would he search for such a gauntlet of power if he didn’t have some driving force of hatred towards this land?””’
“”You don’t have that answer and neither do we.””
“”’I know what my beliefs are and I will fight for them. That means that I shall kill you myself!””’
‘If that’s what you believe, then bring it on.’
The one who calls himself Quint lunged forward and tried to strike me with his sword, which I deflected with ease. His face seems to shift from “this’ll be an easy battle” to “I chose to face a real opponent.” He lunges forward with more might than before and I lock swords with him. I stare into his cold, heartless eyes full of rage and resent.
‘Let me take him myself, you two. Back off for now.’
His strikes keep growing with intensity and force while I stay on the defense. The rage within Quint is growing by the second, while I stay fairly calm. I start to use my magic to distract him, growing spikes of earth around him, setting the vegetation around him ablaze, spraying water on his face…
“”’COME ON, WHY WON’T YOU JUST DIE ALREADY?!””’ he screamed.
‘You have yet to strike me even once. Come on, just admit defeat already.’
“”’NO!!!””’ he cried out. His strikes became somehow even stronger.
I start to go on the offensive instead of blocking all his strikes. He manages to block some of my strikes yet I still hit him quite a few times. The scratches and stab wounds that are left by my sword seem to give off steam. His own strikes start to slow and become weaker. He wails in pain and fury.
“”’GH!!! I’LL KILL YOU!!!””’ He screams, his words dripping with pain and falsity. “”’RAAAAA!!!!!””’
His strikes become more pitiful by the second. Soon, he comes to a complete stop and stares me down. “”’YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE NO MATCH FOR ME!!! HOW ARE YOU SO POWERFUL???””’ I stay silent and watch him keel over in agony.
‘How many people have you witnessed your lord kill?’
“”’UNCOUNTABLE NUMBERS! AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! I SO WISH TO FOLLOW IN HIS GLORIOUS FOOTSTEPS!””’ he exclaims. His hysterics haven’t left him after all the damage he’s sustained.
‘Clearly you won’t get to see the day you succeed. This is where your life ends, not at my hands, but at the one who guided you to this point. I was only the one to bring you down a peg.’
His gaze of agony slowly shifted to acceptance. He fell to his knees, accepting what I said. His face looked up at the sky, his mouth agape. “”’O dear lord, please be proud of what I have done for you this day! I tested up your greatest foe and found him to be an opponent worthy of your time! Praise be thy lord of this realm!””’
SIlence fell as I watched him be filled with awe and pride.
*BOOM*!!!!!!!!!!!!
A massive sound erupted from the air as I watched Quint get rushed from behind and punched in the back so hard his chest tore open, his face unchanging from the faithful bliss he felt once before. Our eyes locked onto the one who delivered the killing blow. The demon himself, with his muscle-bound build and soulless eyes staring blankly and face uncaring. Quint’s lifeless body fell to the ground, blood pouring out of him, the demon standing and looking at us as if were next.
It’s finally time to make sure that there will be no more victims of this demon’s wrath.
